Kiss an Angel Good Mornin’ is a song written by Ben Peters, and recorded by American country music artist Charley Pride. It was released in October 1971 as the first single from the album Charley Pride Sings Heart Songs. The song has since become one of his signature tunes and was his eighth song to reach number one on the country charts, and was also Pride’s only single to reach the Top 40 on the pop charts, peaking at number twenty-one on the Billboard Hot 100. It also reached #19 on the U.S. Cash Box Top 100. The song spent four months on the pop chart, longer than any of his other hits. Billboard ranked it as the No. 74 song for 1972.
Whenever I chance to meet
Some old friends on the street
They wonder how does a man
get to be this way
I’ve always got a smiling face
Anytime and any place
And everytime they ask me why
I just smile and say
You’ve got to
Kiss an angel good morning
And let her know you think about her
when you’re gone
Kiss an angel good morning
And love her like the devil
when you get back home
Well people may try to guess
The secret of a happiness
But some of them never learn
it’s a simple thing
The secret i’m speaking of
Is a woman and a man in love
And the answer is in this song
That I always sing
You’ve got to
Kiss an angel good morning
And let you know you think about her
when you’re gone
Kiss an angel good morning
And love her like the devil
when you get back home
Kiss an angel good morning
And let you know you think about her
when you’re gone
Kiss an angel good morning
And love her like the devil
when you get back home
