Oh, we [G] grow things mighty big down in Ken-[C]-tucky, but there’s [D] nothing in that state can quite com- [G] pare – – – To a [G] cow that we once had us, and the [C] name of her was Gladys. – – – Boy, you [D] should have seen the neighbors stand and [G] stare.
She stood [G] 10 feet tall and had one purple [C] eyeball.  It took [D] eight of us to milk her, here is [G] why: – – – She had [G] 27 spigots; And the [C] tourists all bought tickets, just to [D] watch us milk and hear us loudly [G] cry-y-y-y…
[CHORUS]
We cre- [G] -ated quite a spectacle, I’ll [C] grant you, but we [D] milked her just as pretty as you [G] please.  – – – and while [G] people said “How funny,” we raked [C] in enough durn money to go [D] out and order ermine [G] BVD’s
Father [G] turned her on her back one Sunday [C] morning. Gladys [D] said “I’m upside down, now what’s the [G] gag?” – – –  “Well, the [G] reason why,” said Pop “is so the [C] cream will be on top.” Gladys [D] said, “well in that case, it’s in the [G] bag!”

[CHORUS] – – – Oh, [G] pass the udder udder over [C] to my udder brudder, and pie- [G] ass the udder udder [D] dis-a-way. – – – So they [G] passed the udder udder, and I [C] passed it to my brudder.  Oh, we [D] really had our hands full [G] every day.
Now our [G] Gladys was a star in cattle [C] circles,  though she [D] couldn’t read or write her name in [G] full.  You would [G] think she’d been to college, although [C] she herself acknowledged, that she [D] gained her fame entirely by [G] pull.
Oh she [G] said to us one cold and wintry [C] morning  [D] “Milking is the thing I dearly [G] love,  but when I [G] get a cold it lingers, and I [C] can’t stand icy fingers, so go [D] back into the house and get your [G] gloves!”
[CHORUS] – – – [G] ev [D] ery [G] day
