Blue Suede Shoes

Well, it’s one for the money two for the show. Three to get ready now go, cat, go, but don’t you step on my blue suede shoes. Well you can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.

Well, you can knock me down, step in my face. Slander my name all over the place. Do anything that you want to do; But uh-uh honey, lay off of my shoes.

Don’t you step on my blue suede shoes. Well you can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.

You can burn my house, steal my car. Drink my liquor from an old fruit-jar. Do anything that you want to do; But uh-uh baby, lay off of my shoes.

Don’t you step on my blue suede shoes. Well you can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.

Well, it’s one for the money two for the show. Three to get ready now go, cat, go, but don’t you step on my blue suede shoes. Well you can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.

Blue, blue suede shoes oh baby
Blue, blue suede shoes uh ha
Blue, blue suede shoes oh baby
Blue, blue suede shoes. You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.

You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.

Today

[MAIN CHORUS] – – – – – Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine.
I’ll taste your strawberries, I’ll drink your sweet wine.
A million tomorrows shall all pass away – – E’re I forget all the joy that is mine . . . today.

I’ll be a dandy and I’ll be a rover. You’ll know who I am by the songs that I sing.  I’ll feast at your table, I’ll sleep in your clover.  Who cares what the morrow shall bring?

[MAIN CHORUS] – – – – – Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine.
I’ll taste your strawberries,
I’ll drink your sweet wine.
A million tomorrows shall all pass away – – E’re I forget all the joy that is mine . . . today.

I can’t be contented with yesterday’s glory.  I can’t live on promises winter to spring.
Today is my moment and now is my story. I’ll laugh and I’ll cry and I’ll sing

[MAIN CHORUS] – – – – – Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine.
I’ll taste your strawberries,
I’ll drink your sweet wine.
A million tomorrows shall all pass away – – E’re I forget all the joy that is mine . . . today.

[MAIN CHORUS] – – – – – Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine.
I’ll taste your strawberries,
I’ll drink your sweet wine.
A million tomorrows shall all pass away – – E’re I forget all the joy that is mine . . . today.

Cab Driver

Cab driver, drive by Mary’s place.
I just want a chance to see her face.
Never mind the meter, let it race.
Cab driver, drive by Mary’s place.

Cab driver, once more ’round the block.
Never mind the tickin’ of the clock.
I only wish we could have had a talk.
Cab driver, once more ’round the block.

Cab driver, once more down the street.
There’s a little place we used to eat.
That’s where I laid my future at her feet.
Cab driver, once more down the street.

Cab driver, wait here by the door.
Perhaps I’ll hold her in my arms once more.
Things will be just like they were before.
Cab driver, wait here by the door.

Cab driver, better take me home.
I guess that I was meant to be alone.
I hope God sends me a loved one of my own.
Cab driver, better take me home

On the Road Again

[CHORUS] – On the road again, just can’t wait to get on the road again. My one love is makin’ music with my friends. And I can’t wait to get on the road again.

[Verse] On the road again, going places that I’ve never been. Seein’ things that I may never see again. And I can’t wait to get on the road again.

[BRIDGE] – On the road again, like a band of gypsies we go down the highway. We’re the best of friends, insisting that the world keep turnin’ our way, and our way…

[CHORUS] – On the road again, just can’t wait to get on the road again. My one love is makin’ music with my friends. And I can’t wait to get on the road again.

I can’t wait to get on the road again.

The CoVid Song

So after a bit of practice, the class decided to write a song about the CoVid experience.

It’s short, but adequately sums up our lives during these past 3 years.

We call it “The CoVid Song”

We wrote it in the key of C – for CoVid.

Don’t Let the Rain Come Down

There was a crooked man and he had a crooked smile. Had a crooked sixpence and he walked a crooked mile. Had a crooked cat and he had a crooked mouse. They all lived together in a crooked little house

[CHORUS] – (Ah, ah) Oh, no, don’t let the rain come down. (Ah, ah) Oh, no, don’t let the rain come down.
(Ah, ah) Oh, no, don’t let the rain come down. My roof’s got a hole in it and I might drown. (PAUSE) Oh, yes, my roof’s got a hole in it and I might drown.

Well, this crooked little man and his crooked little smile Took his crooked sixpence and he walked a crooked mile. Bought some crooked nails and a crooked little bat. Tried to fix his roof with a rat-tat-tat-tat-tat (PAUSE FOR RAT TAT)

Now this crooked little man and his crooked cat and mouse; They all live together in a crooked little house. Has a crooked door with a crooked little latch. Has a crooked roof with a crooked little patch.

For the Good Times

Don’t look so sad, I know it’s over. But life goes on and this ol’ world will keep on turning. Let’s just be glad we had some time to spend together. There’s no need to watch the bridges that we’re burning.

[CHORUS] – – – – – Lay your head upon my pillow. Hold your warm and tender body close to mine. Hear the whisper of the raindrops blowing soft across the window. And make believe you love me one more time. For the good times . .

I’ll get along, you’ll find another. And I’ll be here if you should find you ever need me. Don’t say a word about tomorrow, or forever. There’ll be time enough for sadness when you leave me.

[CHORUS] – – – – – Lay your head upon my pillow. Hold your warm and tender body close to mine. Hear the whisper of the raindrops blowing soft across the window. And make believe you love me one more time. For the good times . .

For the good times . .

For the good times . .

For the good times

Country Road

[Verse 1] – Almost Heaven, West Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River.
Life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains, blowin’ like a breeze.

[CHORUS] – Country Roads, take me home, to the place I belong.
West Virginia, mountain mama, take me home, country roads.

[Verse 2] – All my memories gather ’round her, miner’s lady, stranger to blue water.
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky, misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye.

[CHORUS] – Country Roads, take me home, to the place I belong.
West Virginia, mountain mama, take me home, country roads.

[Bridge] – I hear her voice, in the mornin’ hour she calls me. Radio reminds me of my home far away. And drivin’ down the [A#] road I get a feelin’ that I should have been home yesterday, yesterday.

[CHORUS] – Country Roads, take me home, to the place I belong.
West Virginia, mountain mama, take me home, country roads.

Take me home, [down] country roads.

Take me home, [down] country roads.

You are my Sunshine / Red River Valley

[ CHORUS ] – You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You’ll never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away

RED RIVER VALLEY – From this valley they say you are leaving. We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile. For they say you are taking the sunshine, that has brightened our pathway a while

Come and sit by my side if you love me. Do not hasten to bid me adieu.
Just remember the Red River Valley, and the cowboy that’s loved you so true

[ CHORUS ] – You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You’ll never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away

For a long time my darling I’ve waited for those sweet words you never would say.  Now at last all my wishes have vanished, for they say you are going away.

Won’t you think of the valley you’re leaving. oh, how lonely, how sad it will be? Oh, think of the fond heart you’re breaking,
and the grief you are causing to me

[ CHORUS ] – You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You’ll never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away

As you go to your home by the ocean. May you never forget these sweet hours that we spent in the Red River Valley, and the love we exchanged mid the flowers.

The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping,
I dreamed I held you, in my arms.
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken, so I hung my head and I cried

[ CHORUS ] – You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You’ll never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away

They will bury me where you have wandered,
Near the hills where the daffodils grow.
When you’re gone from the Red River Valley, I can’t live without you, that I know.

[ CHORUS ] – You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You’ll never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away

[ CHORUS ] – You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You’ll never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away

Little Boxes

Little boxes on the hillside, Little boxes made of ticky tacky. Little boxes on the hillside, Little boxes all the same.

There’s a green one and a pink one, And a blue one and a yellow one, and they’re all made out of ticky tacky, and they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses, all went to the university, where they were all put in boxes, and they all came out the same.

And there’s doctors and there’s lawyers, and business executives, and they’re
all made out of ticky tacky, and they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf course,
And they all drink their martinis dry, and they all have pretty children,
and the children go to school . . .

And the children go to summer camp, and then to the university where they’re
all put into boxes, and they all come out the same.

And the boys go into business, and marry and raise a family, in boxes made of ticky tacky, and they all look just the same.

There’s a green one and a pink one, and a blue one and a yellow one, and they’re all made out of ticky tacky, and they all look just the same.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

[Verse 1] – All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go. I’m standing here outside your door. I hate to wake you up to say goodbye.

But the dawn is breaking, it’s early morn. The taxi’s waiting, he’s blowing his horn. Already I’m so lonesome I could die.

[CHORUS] – So kiss me and smile for me. Tell me that you’ll wait for me. Hold me like you’ll never let me go. I’m leaving on a jet plane.  Don’t know when I’ll be back again.  Oh babe, I hate to go.

[V 2] – There’s so many times I’ve let you down. So many times I’ve played around. I tell you now they don’t mean a thing.  Every place I go I’ll think of you. Every song I sing I’ll sing for you. When I come back I’ll bring your wedding ring.

[CHORUS] – So kiss me and smile for me. Tell me that you’ll wait for me. Hold me like you’ll never let me go. I’m leaving on a jet plane.  Don’t know when I’ll be back again.  Oh babe, I hate to go.

[V 3] – Now the time has come for me to leave you. One more time let me kiss you. Then close your eyes I’ll be on my way.  Dream about the days to come. When I won’t have to leave alone. About the times I won’t have to say.

[CHORUS] – kiss me and smile for me. Tell me that you’ll wait for me.  Hold me like you’ll never let me go. I’m leaving on a jet plane.  Don’t know when I’ll be back again.  Oh babe, I hate to go.
